Blodeuwedd is the Celtic goddess of Lunar Mysteries. She was a woman made by flowers by Gwydion to wed Llew Llaw Gyffes. Gwydion could not marry her because she was human. However, She fell in love with Gwydion. In order to be rid of Llew and to be with Gwydion, she tricked Llew into telling her how he could be killed. Gwydion killed him and Llew turned into an eagle. Llew eventually was able to turn back into his human form, after which he killed Gwydion. Blodeuwedd was transformed into an owl, for her trickery. She was doomed to haunt the night in loneliness and sorrow, shunned by all other birds.
