Great Horned Owl
|
Title: Great Horned Owl Medium: Derwent watercolor pencils Paper: Strathmore Size: 9" x 12" Original Price: $80.00 (Does not include frame, nor shipping and handling) Other than seeing them in captivity, I have only seen a great horned owl once, in Colorado. Unfortunately, it was dead along-the-side of the road. This is a study done for a wet canvas project. We were only allowed to use 3 colors. The Great Horned Owl is known for its horned feather tufts on its head...giving it a fierce "horned" appearance. It is common throughout North America except in Northern Canada's tundra. It has a keen sense of hearing and vision and is a very aggressive powerful hunter. It's prey mainly consists of small rodents, hawks, snakes, and even skunks. In animal lore the owl represents wisdom, truth, patience, healing powers, the ability to see into the eyes and souls of others, insightfulness and prophecy. |
