I use to live in the Southwest and I love the mesas and sunsets they have there. So, I thought I would incorportate them in with the golden eagle I had drawn. I have seen golden eagles numerous times while working for the USFS. On one encounter, I stumbled upon a pairs nesting place. Mama eagle wasn't exactly happy that I was there, but what an incredible experience that was.

Golden eagles range throughout much of the northern hemisphere. They live in remote mountainous and rugged terrain areas. The golden eagle is a solitary bird and is a great hunter. Their diet consists of small rodents, groundhogs, marmots, foxes, skunks, cats, grouse, crows, pheasants, tortoises, and snakes They mate for life and will nest in trees, rocky crags or cliff faces.

In animal lore, the golden eagle represents high ideals, spiritual philosophy, great perception and the bridging of worlds.
